Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):

The Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This is for young babies and children from 0 years until Reception.

There are 7 areas of the curriculum. Three prime areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development

Then there are 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Each child is designated a Key Person on entry into the Nursery and the Key Person is responsible for carrying out regular observations on each child, and providing next steps to further develop the children's learning.

We have parents consultations twice a year, where parents are invited into the Nursery to discuss their child's progress and read their report.

Before children move on to Nursery School or School we complete transition packs to pass on to the child's chosen School, which contains information about the child's development, their likes / dislikes, additional needs, etc. This information is shown to the parents before being passed on to the School.

Tapestry:

Whilst your child is attending Kaleidoscope Nursery, staff will record your child's learning journey through a variety of photos, observation's, display work, etc. This information is stored on a software package "Tapestry". As a parent you are able to access this software and view your child's work and comment on what they have done. You are also able to share with us photos of what your child has been experiencing at home. When your child leaves Nursery, you will be able to have a copy of their learning journey for you to keep.

This is a secure software package where only the manager, key person and parents can view the information.

The link below is guidance for parents and carers, explaining how Tapestry works and has frequently asked questions to help you.

Below is a link to the Tapestry website for you to be able to log in.
